Stanley Deason Sports Centre, operated by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Brighton & Hove Council, needed a full refurbishment of its 540m² sports hall. The existing surface was no longer fit for purpose and required a system that could improve performance, extend lifespan, and meet the demands of a high-traffic, multi-use facility.
Reflex Sports was selected to deliver a flooring upgrade that balanced shock absorption, resilience, and ease of maintenance. The new surface also needed to meet EN14904 standards for indoor sports flooring while delivering a clean, seamless aesthetic suitable for a wide range of activities.
We specified a Granwood overlay system with an integrated Pulastic® elastic pad and seamless polyurethane (PU) top layer. This combination provided a compliant, high-performance surface with excellent underfoot comfort and durability.
Installation was completed efficiently with minimal disruption to operations, ensuring the space was back in use quickly. The upgraded floor now supports a range of sports and activities, delivering consistent performance and long-term value for both the council and operator.
